Leveling the Playing Field

Committing to Girls' Soccer

At the ALBION 12 Foundation (A12F), we’re passionate about ensuring every young athlete has the chance to shine, especially the girls who lace up their cleats with ALBION SC San Diego. Since 2015, our nonprofit has worked to create opportunities for girls in soccer, breaking down barriers like financial constraints and limited resources. Through scholarships, equipment, coaching, and unique programs like our Play It Safe self-defense class, A12F is empowering the next generation of female athletes to grow, lead, and succeed, on the field and beyond.

Breaking Down Financial Barriers

The cost of competitive soccer, fees, travel, and gear, can be a hurdle for many families. A12F’s player scholarships make it possible for girls from all backgrounds to join ALBION SC’s elite teams. In 2025 alone, A12F awarded over $330,000 in scholarships to ALBION SC players with a large portion supporting female athletes. These funds cover essentials like registration fees, uniforms, and tournament travel, ensuring that talent and determination, not finances, define a player’s journey.

Investing in Coaching and Equipment

Great coaching and quality equipment are critical for success in soccer. A12F funds top-tier coaches for girls’ teams, providing mentorship that builds skills and confidence. We’ve also invested in equipment, from soccer balls to training gear, so every player has what they need to compete. These resources create an environment where girls can focus on improving their game, fostering teamwork and resilience that carry into their daily lives.

Empowering Through Unique Programs

A12F goes beyond the field to support girls holistically. Our Play It Safe self-defense class, funded by A12F, equips girls with practical skills to feel confident and safe, both on and off the pitch. This program, designed specifically for our female athletes, teaches physical techniques and boosts self-assurance, reinforcing that they can overcome any challenge. Combined with leadership initiatives like our Team Captain Leadership Development, these programs help girls develop into strong, capable leaders.

Building a Path to College and Beyond

A12F’s commitment to girls’ soccer opens doors to long-term opportunities. ALBION SC has facilitated over $57 million in college scholarships for its players, with girls making up a significant portion. By providing access to competitive play and mentorship, A12F helps female athletes develop the discipline and skills needed for college recruitment. These opportunities create a ripple effect, inspiring girls to pursue their goals in academics, careers, and community involvement, with dozens of examples for players on the younger girls teams to see female athletes succeed in ALBION's program.
